#MusicMonday: 13 – 19 February 2017

Guess what’s back, back again. #MusicMonday’s back, tell a friend.

Yeah, we know, we were only gone for one week, but that’s a long time to be gone in the music world! Since our last article, so many great albums and songs have been released and we’re upset we aren’t able to properly showcase them all. However, while we might not be able to discuss everything due to time constraints, we can highlight what we would like to consider the five standouts.

So without further ado, we present to you the latest edition of #MusicMonday.

Christina Grimmie – ‘Invisible’

Kicking off our list is the one and only Christina Grimmie and the first single off her upcoming posthumous album. According to her family, Grimmie had recorded vocals for around 50-60 songs before her death and so, after much deliberation, they decided to share the music with the rest of the world. Enter ‘Inivisible’.

‘Invisible’ is a track that showcases not only the Grimmie’s songwriting ability, but her extreme vocal talent. She easily had one of the strongest voices in the scene at the time of her death and ‘Invisible’ showcases it perfectly. We understand hearing new music from her will bring about some emotion, but we highly recommend you give this track a listen. It’s a good one.

MisterWives – Machine

MisterWives have returned to the scene with the lead single off their upcoming album. Titled ‘Machines’, it features their signature indie-pop sound blended with a new drive to showcase the music scene just what they’re made of.

If you’re a long-term MisterWives fan, this track will definitely sate your need for new music. If you’re new to the band, you can thank us later for helping you discovering your new addiction.

All Time Low – Dirty Laundry

New label, new song, a new All Time Low?

Earlier this week, the band announced they’d signed with Fueled By Ramen and followed up the announcement by releasing their new single ‘Dirty Laundry’. A much more poppier sound than we’re used to hearing from them, it’s a track that shows a potential new direction that we’re excited to hear. We understand that a band changing their sound can be a bit worrying, but we urge ATL fans to give the band’s new record a chance. You never know, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Linkin Park ft. Kiiara – Heavy

Speaking of a poppier sound, we introduce to you Linkin Park‘s new single ‘Heavy’, featuring Kiiara.

We understand the irony of the song’s title, as its anything but heavy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. We’ll admit, we had to give it a few listens to really appreciate it, but ‘Heavy’ is a love song that could easily introduce the mainstream to Linkin Park, something that would be good for not only the band, but their fans to. The more a band is known, the more they’ll tour and release new music, and that’s always a great thing.

New Found Glory – Happy Being Miserable

New Found Gory will be releasing their new album later on this year, and to further increase anticipation for its release, they’ve released yet another new single – and it’s a banger!

‘Happy Being Miserable’ is reminiscent of the New Found Glory tracks we know and love. Spewing out infectious pop-punk hooks, it’s almost guaranteed you’ll have it stuck in your head all week, which obviously is the sign that the band are doing their job. Now, if only it could be April, so we can hear the rest of the album already.
