#MusicMonday: 20 – 26 February 2017

It’s been a stellar week for music, wouldn’t you agree?

We’re not going to lie, it was pretty difficult narrowing down our picks for this week’s list. We sat around our computers, headphones in our ears, for hours trying to select five releases we felt best represented our music scene, and we feel we’ve finally done it. However, we’ve been left with one question: what’s in the water our favourite bands and artists have been drinking? It seems nearly impossible for them to miss a beat!

While She Sleeps ft. Oli Sykes – Silence Speaks

Kicking off our list are British metalcore group While She Sleeps with their new single ‘Silence Speaks’. Featuring Bring Me The Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes, the track is quintessential While She Sleeps: heavy. The band are known for creating earth-shattering breakdowns and screams that are more than enviable, and ‘Silence Speaks’ is no different.

We clicked on the video thinking we knew what to expect and we left having received that and more. We can’t wait to hear what else the band have to offer with their upcoming album!

Knuckle Puck – Indecisive

You know it’s going to be big news when one of the scene’s hottest pop-punk bands releases new music, and this track from Knuckle Puck is no exception. Having received quite the buzz on the day of its release, it’s since gone on to grace the headphones of many, and it’s no surprise as to why. While bringing about a sound that’s different than that heard on 2015’s Copacetic, it’s still one hell of a track and one that’ll have you hitting repeat time and time again.

Now, who wants to take a bet on how long it’ll take for lyric edits to appear on Tumblr?

At The Drive In – Incurably Innocent

It’ll probably come as no surprise to any of you, but we were stoked to hear about At The Drive In‘s reunion, and ‘Incurably Innocent’ is the perfect example as to why. It feels as if the band never left, with its vocal delivery, instrumentation and lyrics. Honestly, can this band do no wrong?

Welcome back, At The Drive In. We’re glad to have you back!

The 1975 – By Your Side (Cover)

Need more The 1975 in your life? Well, it looks like the boys have obliged with this cover of Sade‘s ‘By Your Side’. Recorded in aid of War Child, a charity that protect children living in war zones, the track is beautiful and incredibly well done, definitely working upon the band’s strengths as musicians. While the auto tune might turn some away, we think it adds something special and is a nice touch. Well done, guys!

Those wishing to purchase the full song can do so via iTunes.

Bea Miller – Chapter One: Blue (SIngle)

Bea Miller is without a doubt one of music’s brightest rising stars. The former X Factor contestant has been on fire since her television debut and her latest release – Chapter One: Blue – is yet another example of why. Showing growth since her debut album, the three tracks present on this single feature stunning vocals, infectious pop hooks and lyrics that show an increased maturity and self-awareness.

Even if you’re not a pop music fan, we know you’ll find something worth while in these tracks. They’re something special, and we can’t wait to see what Bea comes up with next!
