10 Bands to Watch in 2017

Looking for some new bands to satisfy your listening needs?

Us too! We’re constantly on the lookout for new bands to sink our teeth into, whether it be some radio-pop star or a hard-hitting alternative-rock outfit. We love all types of music and seriously can’t get enough of discovering new acts!

2017 is looking to be quite the year for music. Many of our favourite bands are releasing new albums, while our future faves are vying for our attention. This is why we decided to not only create a Most Anticipated Albums of 2017 list, but also one that showcases 10 bands who are on a rise so fast that it doesn’t look like they’ll be slowing down anytime soon.

Who exactly is on this list, you ask? Keep on reading to find out!

10. Smallpools

Starting off our list are California’s own Smallpools. The band have had a steady rise since they came together in 2013, playing multiple shows and even performing on Late Night with Seth Meyers back in 2015 (an amazing feat).

In 2016, they released their new single ‘RUN WITH THE BULLS’, which has our hopes up for a possible new album in 2017. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but we can dream, right?

9. My Enemies & I

Need some aggression in your life? Look no further than Fearless Records’ own My Enemies & I.

Bringing the heavy (and we mean heavy), the post-hardcore/metalcore group bring forward impactful lyrics, unique music videos and an overall style that allows their music to stay front and centre in the current scene. Give them a listen. We guarantee you’ll be moshing sooner, rather than later.

8. The White Noise

The White Noise are Fearless Records’ best kept secret. This post-hardcore group from Dallas, Texas signed to the label in 2015 and in 2016 released their third EP Aren’t You Glad?, one of the best releases of the year.

The band are known for blending their post-hardcore sound with the likes of rock and metalcore to create a diversity that allows them to stand out from the crowd. We know the post-hardcore genre can sometimes feel redundant, so it’s a good thing we have these guys to shake things up.

7. Settle Your Scores

Looking for some heavy pop-punk to fill your ear drums? Well then, do we have the band for you!

Settle Your Scores are from Cincinnati, Ohio and have been making waves in their local scene. They released their debut album The Wilderness a little under a year ago to rave reviews from music critics and it’s no secret why! Each track on the release is better than the next!

Covers more your thing? Well, it’s a good thing these guys also have a few for you to watch over on their YouTube channel.

6. VISTA

VISTA are one of the most promising bands in the scene today, so we obviously had to include them in our list! Having just released their new single ‘Henchmen’, the anthem rock three-piece are looking to have a killer 2017. Touring? A new EP? Nothing is off the books for these guys!

(Psst… We recently interviewed the band about their plans for 2017. You should check it out.)

5. With Confidence

It’s about time we had some Aussies grace our list, wouldn’t you agree?

With Confidence are currently signed to Hopeless Records and released their debut album Better Weather this past year. Bringing about a sound that’s 5 Seconds Of Summer meets All Time Low, the album showed that the band could quite possible be the next big thing in melodic pop-punk. We know, we know, that’s a big claim, but we think these guys have what it takes.

4. Heirsound

Coming in at number four on our list are Long Island’s own Heirsound. The alternative two piece is made up of former members of Love, Robot and Sink Swim, and have been steadily making waves in the underground scene with their unique and entrancing sound.

If you’re looking switch up your playlist or are just looking for something different to fill your ears, then we suggest you give Heirsound a listen. You won’t regret it.

3. Courage My Love

We recently featured Courage My Love in our Most Anticipated Albums of 2017 list, so of course they had to make an appearance on this list! It just wouldn’t seem right to leave them out.

As we’ve mentioned before, these Canadian pop-punks are set for their biggest year to date with the release of this February’s Synesthesia, and they are currently Virgin Radio Canada’s future star for January. With so much happening at the beginning of the year, we can’t imagine how the full 12 months of 2017 will treat them!

2. Fossil Youth

If you’ve been following Legendary Kids Press for any length of time, then you know that we’re pretty much Fossil Youth‘s biggest fans. Don’t believe us? How dare you! Why would we lie about something like that… Anyway, we’re getting off track.

Fossil Youth are a pop-punk band with a lot of heart and are one of the brightest acts currently on Take This To Heart Records’ lineup. The band released their EP Intertwined With You back in 2015 and followed it up with last year’s killer A Glimpse of Self Joy. We promise, you’ll be hitting repeat time and time again once you start listening to these guys.

1. WSTR

Topping our list are British pop-punks WSTR and really, how could they not? The band have been making waves in the UK with their angsty and honest take on music, and they’re looking to continue their upward trajectory with their debut album Red, Green or Inbetween, which is out later on this month!

If you’re a fan of pop-punk or are just looking for some new British acts to fangirl over, then we suggest you give the band a listen. We promise, you’ll be addicted after the first listen.

And there you have it!

The 10 bands you 100% definitely need to keep an eye on in 2017. They’re going to do big things and you’ll want to be along for the journey. Trust us, we know these things. Are there any bands you would have liked to have seen on the list? Be sure to let us know by dropping a tweet or Facebook comment!
