#MusicMonday: 2-8 January 2017

THe year has only just begun and already, the music gods are ensuring it’ll be a good one.

We’re only a week into 2017 and we’re already been treated to a new album from British rockers You Me At Six, two new singles (yes, TWO) from the lovely Ed Sheeran and much, much more. Honestly, we’ve been left asking what we did to be graced with such musical gifts?

It’s been such a good week that we simply had to bring back our #MusicMonday series. It’d be a shame not to shine a light on these amazing releases.

You Me At Six – Night People

There were many great albums released this past week, but the one that really caught our attention was You Me At Six’s Night People. The band’s first album in nearly three years, it’s the band’s most diverse album to date. Whether you’re looking for some Arctic Monkeys-esque indie, Hold Me Down-era alternative or just some good ole fashion rock, Night People is without a doubt You Me At Six’s most mature release to date.

Ed Sheeran – ‘Shape Of You’

There was no greater gift last week than the release of Ed Sheeran’s two new singles. Without a doubt the most anticipated releases of this month, the tracks give us a sneak peek into where Sheeran is hoping to take his music this time around.

Our favourite out of the two tracks is ‘Shape Of You’, which has an acoustic meets Sia vibe to it that will leave you addicted and wanting more – we dare you to try listening to it without hitting the repeat button. We’re super happy Sheeran didn’t give this song to Rihanna.

Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness – ‘So Close’

We’re just over a month away from the release of Andrew McMahon‘s new album Zombies On Broadway being released. This is the fourth track to be released off the album and it definitely has us even more excited for February 10th.

Give ‘So Close’ a listen and we guarantee you’ll be pre-ordering Zombies On Broadway immediately after.

Halestorm – ReAniMate 3.0: The  CoVeRs eP

If there’s one thing we LOVE here at Legendary Kids Press, it’s covers – especially when we get an EP’s worth of them!

Halestorm have started out the new year by giving some of our favourite tracks a rock twist. Our favourite off the EP? This cover of twenty one pilots’ ‘Heathens’. If you were a fan of the original version, you’ll definitely love this take.

NIGHTLIFE – ‘Out of Your Mind’

Closing out our list are the one and only NIGHTLIFE with their new single, ‘Out of Your Mind’. The track is off the band’s upcoming debut album, which is set for release February 24th. If ‘Out of Your Mind’ is any indication, then it’ll be filled with the 2000s-esque rock that we grew up loving, and we honestly can’t wait!
